Save Energy and Money
Understanding how much energy your home is using, when and where, empowers you to find savings. Only Sense gives you the tools to break it down.
New as of January 2021: if you’re on a time-of-use rate plan, you can input your rate zones for more accurate billing and historical costs. You can even set push notifications to alert you when entering peak zones.
Whole-home and device usage breaks down what your bill doesn’t tell you.
Custom goal-setting and alerts help you set targets to lower your use.
Notifications proactively inform you of significant changes in consumption.
Home comparisons tracks where you rank against similar homes.
See what’s up. Know what’s on.
Get a view into your home you can’t get with any other energy monitor. See when the garage door opened, the television turned on, or the dryer finished its cycle.
Machine learning device detection finds individual devices in your home over time.
Detailed information on when and how a device is functioning.
Integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Philips Hue, TP-Link Kasa HS300, and Wemo Insight smart plugs to aid in device detection and control.
Sure, it’s convenient to know when certain devices turn on and off, but it may just save your home, too. Heavy rains? See if your sump pump is running, or running too much. Think you forgot to turn off the oven? Set an alert to inform you if it’s been on for over an hour.
Compatibility: Most split-phase 120/240V OR 400A split-service residential electrical panels in North America. (Split-service panels require the Solar Upgrade)
Power consumption: <5W, 0.1A
Monitor Size and Weight: 137mm x 66mm x 32mm, 220g
Wireless: 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Bluetooth Smart; Bandwidth use: ~300MB per day
The Hardware Matters
The Sense monitor was designed for the highest level of measurement accuracy and is ETL/Intertek certified for safe operation inside the electrical panel.
Sensors read current 1 million times per second within 2% accuracy, required for machine learning device detection.
No minimum Wattage monitoring threshold. Some monitors cannot read signals less than 240W.
Voltage and Amperage monitoring ensures accurate calculations. Some monitors only measure one power leg, meaning variability in power consistency results in inaccurate calculations.
How it Works
The Sense monitor installs in your electrical panel. (We recommend you have an electrician do that.)
The monitor reads the electrical current being drawn and sends the data to the cloud.
Sense analyzes that data and sends it back through the app on your phone or desktop.
Over time, it learns what’s happening in your home, detects devices, and provides information on your energy use.
Increased functionality with optional Flex sensors
Dedicated circuit monitoring
Track up to two 120V or 240V circuits. It’s the best way to track devices like your HVAC system, EV charger or variable speed pumps.
Whole-home monitoring for homes with split-service 400A electrical systems, more common in newer, larger homes.
If your power is interrupted, Sense can tell you when your back-up generator takes over and how much energy the home is using.
Solar monitoring for homes that already have Sense, but have recently added a solar power system.
